Holy Family Tigers snagged a late lead and defeated Regis Jesuit 17-7 on Saturday.
The game was tied 7-7 with Holy Family batting in the top of the fourth when a wild pitch allowed one run to score for Holy Family.
The Tigers were boosted by Carly Eldredge who went 4-for-5 at the plate. Eldredge homered in the first, singled in the second, singled in the sixth, and doubled in the sixth.
In the first inning, Holy Family got its offense started. Eldredge hit a inside-the-park solo homer.
After Holy Family scored four runs in the top of the second, Regis Jesuit answered with four of their own. The Tigers scored when Lindsey Deau singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
Regis Jesuit then answered when Kersey hit a grand slam on a 0-1 count.
Holy Family took the lead back for good with two runs in the fourth inning. Ava Kuszak tripled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
Holy Family scored eight runs in the sixth inning. Kuszak, Annika Manzanares, Eldredge, and Tyler Whitlock all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Cassidy Chvatal was the winning pitcher for Holy Family Tigers. She lasted six innings, allowing seven hits and seven runs while striking out seven and walking zero.
Holy Family socked two home runs on the day. Eldredge had a long ball in the first inning. Kuszak put one out in the sixth inning.
Holy Family racked up 16 hits. Eldredge, Whitlock, Chvatal, Kuszak, and Deau each managed multiple hits for the Tigers. Eldredge went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Holy Family Tigers in hits.
