Holy Family needed one in a big way on Tuesday, and they got it.
After back-to-back losses to now No. 1 Mead and No. 2 Wheat Ridge, the No. 3 Tigers — on the strength of a huge nine run sixth inning, beat Windsor 11-3 to move to 3-2 on the season as they get ready to enter NCAC play next week.
The Tigers strung some big hits together in the sixth, including a two-run double to the gap by Annika Manzanares that put Holy Family up for good at 4-3 and another run scoring double by Jenna Pfenning. It might be just what the doctor ordered for two players that had been struggling at the plate over the last few games.
Among the Tigers 13 hits, Carly Eldredge had three from her leadoff spot. Tyler Whitlock, Cassidy Chvatal and Abby Edwards each had two and combined to drive in six runs.
Chvatal settled down in the circle after giving up a two-run home run to Alexis Wagner in the third inning, and despite getting nailed with a line drive in the top of the sixth inning, pitched her first complete game of the season. Sje struck out five and walked just one to get the win.
The Tigers will be off for a week before heading to Greeley West next Tuesday.
