FREDERICK — In what could easily have been a trap game – the Frederick Warriors took last years league game to OT – the Tigers visited Frederick in a Tri-Valley League match on Monday evening with a beautiful sunset as a backdrop.
The backdrop was more spectacular than the game it turned out.
The Tigers came out of the gate fast with Mikey Dolph grabbing a goal after some neat exchange play.
The contest was all but over 12 minutes later when Dylan McIntosh wriggled free and popped the ball over the goalies head and into the net.
The tempo dropped with the visitors being content to possess the ball. After the turnaround the Tigers came out flying again with a few tactical switches that saw McIntosh score three goals – the middle being chopped off for offside – drifting in from the left wing and placing all three beyond the goalie.
Frederick then grabbed a goal out of the blue that fired the home team up for a few minutes before Mikey Dolph grabbed his second of the night.
With 15 minutes to go the visitors gave valuable game experience to their bench – creating many chances in the process.
Overall, a good evening on Frederick. Wednesday night sees the visit of Loveland to HF. It could be game that goes a long way for either team to clinching the Tri-Valley League title for 2019. Come on out and support the boys – varsity starts at 6 p.m.
